There is something about last year's track "Embrace" by Australian electro-duo PNAU. (picture). Don't know if it's the vocals from Pip Brown aka Ladyhawke, or the sound in general, but it's lovely. PNAU is made up of Peter Mayes and Nick Littlemore of Empire of the Sun. Naturally, "Embrace" has been remixed; recently by hungarian duo Tits & Clits. (Classy name, eh :p?) See what you think... I also included previous version by Fred Falke/ Miami Horror which I think is worth a listen.
Miami Horror is a 22 year old DJ/Producer from Melbourne. He has remixed for the likes of Pnau, The Presets, Faker, Datarock, and Midnight Juggernauts. Listen to the new single from Miami Horror's upcoming debut album...catchy! (And the video is so sweet...)
Röyksopp announced a remix competition of their track "Tricky Tricky", featuring Karin Dreijer-Andersson (The Knife, Fever Ray). Looks like winners will be announced the week of October 26th (competition now closed). I'm sure there are lots of gems out there by now, in the mean time here's a couple of versions you wanna check out!:
Binary of the so-called 'Dreamwave' sound will release the record "Binary Presents: LA Lights" next tuesday. Binary is a family of LA based dance music producers and artists. They say they "strive to bring the song back to the dance floor. We believe in the sun, vintage synths, killer hooks, killer cocktails, and killer girls with killer looks" ...Hey, works for me!
I think I am hooked on Keenhouse's "ari-es" and especially the Grum remix! Check out their website for more tracks and mixes. Guess we have to keep an eye on Binary from now on...
(Update: added the oh-so-smooth Hemingway's Starlight Yacht remix!)
The Phoenix 2009 album inspired quite a few remixes, no surprise there. Animal Collective does "Love like a Sunset", so does Shuttle (drummer of Passion Pit):
Chromeo has sort of grown on me. Now, I just can't resist that smooth sexy vibe they're giving off... Montreal electrofunk duo Chromeo is out with their own DJ Kicks after several remixes released over the past few years. The DJ-Kicks series of mixtape albums was named by Mixmag as "the most important DJ-mix series ever". The first new material from the duo since 2007 album "Fancy Footwork"(buyon iTunes), is a slow ballad, a cover of The Eagles' "I Can't Tell You Why".(Chromeo's myspace here).
Update: Yay! New track "Night by Night" needs to be checked out as well! Does this mean a new album is finally on the way?... More update: I'm also adding the new Skream remix, which by the way Chromeo's own P-Thugg just complimented on Twitter. So, if the masters like it, hey you might wanna check it out ;)
New video for 'This Must Be It" from everyone's favourite norwegians Röyksopp! Vocals of course from the amazing Karin Dreijer Andersson of The Knife and Fever Ray. As a fellow norwegian I can tell you “Røyksopp” means "smoke mushroom" i.e puffball fungus, which you might already know:) The single "This must be it" is ut November 2nd, from their latest album "Junior" (buy here). Röyksopp 'This Must Be It' from Röyksopp:
"This must be it" has already been turned into a few mixes that are worth a re-listening, don't you think?
